Q & A
Still adding to this, but in the meantime, here's what we know:
Are kids welcome?
Yes!
Is your venue in the middle of nowhere?
Also yes!
Just kidding, there's plenty of great things to do all within 30 minutes of ABR; Rocky Mountain National Park South entrance is just up the road through the very cute town of Grand Lake, and Winter Park ski resort is in the opposite direction. We anticipate beautiful hiking weather and hope folks are able to take advantage of the mountains while you're here!
What kind of weather should I prepare for?
Anticipate mid 70s in June during peak afternoon hours - however the rule of thumb for elevation is that if the sun is out, it feels about 10 degrees warmer (mid 80s).
Mornings & nights will be chilly though, anywhere from 40s-60s. Bring a jacket and a light layer.
Will there be anything going on if I'm in town a bit early?
Yes! We're looking to set up some sort of group hike and/or sports day on Friday, plus a welcome night at a local brewery. We'll also have some sort of Sunday brunch option as folks start heading out of town - stay tuned for details.
Can I camp at the venue?
If you're feeling adventurous, our venue will be available for people who want to rough it camping from Thursday - Sunday evening (June 19th - 22nd).
If this is something you're potentially interested in, text Kristin or Pawel so we can get a rough head count and fill you in on specifics!
What's the deal with altitude?
If you haven't spent much time in the mountains, prepare yourself to take it slow while you're in town. Antler Basin Ranch is at around 9,000 feet of elevation, and you will definitely feel it.
Drink plenty of water (more than you think you need, Colorado is very dry) and get electrolytes where you can (we love liquid IVs).
Alcohol will hit you faster, so plan accordingly!
Signs of altitude sickness to be on the watch for:
- headache
- dizziness
- nausea
- loss of appetite
